Bar Taru : izakaya
Open since the 1950's, Bar Taru is a classic "izakaya" located in Ginza. To enter the bar, there is a stairwell from street level which leads to the lower level space. The bartender and waitress were very friendly, as they could tell we felt a bit out of place.

Whiskey is the new trend in Tokyo, and this bar has a decent selection .. try a sample from the barrel above the bar!
Music (Jukebox): Rolling Stones, Beatles, Yardbirds .. 60's classics. Not what you'd expect from a bar in Tokyo.
Language Tip:
An izakaya is a bar which serves cooked food (customers typically eat at the bar).
