Last summer Patrick Bemet, who has worked as pastry chef in five-star restaurants the world over, and his wife, Azita, opened Patrick's French Bakery at Southdale Square. Though they make a killer quiche Lorraine, the couple's specialties are breads and pastries. A glass display case is lined with rows of delectable cakes, tarts, croissants, and truffles. Possibly the prettiest of all is the Strawberry Chocolate Fondant Cake, an almond sponge cake topped with smooth homemade strawberry mousse. Inside rile mousse lies a rich chocolate fondant cake. The single-serving cake is then topped with fresh kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and glazed for a truly elegant dessert. Stream in its outdoor garden.
