I love the atmosphere and the food. Recently, one of the employees led my friend and I on a tour through the mansion/restaurant and informed us of the ghost, Molly. The history of the mansion is fascinating. I love the restaurant, and will definitely be back! - mufkagirl@juno.com, 11/13/2002
I am a travel agent and visited St. Paul Aug. 23-24. The city is beautiful and Forepaugh's was excellent. Molly did play some tricks on us, too! She made glasses topple over and closed a drawer on the 3rd floor after I asked her to!! I'll be back, what a great experience!! - Meagan, Great Barrington, MA, 08/27/2001
I, too, must say, the level of service has, within recent years, declined. For instance, I, along with a friend, not long
ago, had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a bartender whose only talented, it seemed, consisted of an uncanny ability to ignore custormers. He was, no doubt, aided in this by way of several staff members who, having finished their shifts, congregated about the bar. Such experiences only serve to chase away custormers, both old and new. That said, I will not be returning! - Caleb Hamilton, 05/31/2001
My husband and I dined at your restaraunt this past Saturday evening and were disapointed with the quality of the food. The atmosphere was quaint and quite charming and the service and wait staff were good. I usually would not write a comment like this but for the price we paid, we did expect a better quality of dinner. I had the lamb which was tough and almost charred on the outside but red inside.....same with the vegies that came with it. Both my husband and friend had the liver. They both did not finish it. My other friend had the shrimp which she liked. The food was edible otherwise we would have sent it back. It is just that as I said, we were disapointed in it's quality. The friend that we went with had been there a few times before and recommended it. However, that was over 3 years ago. He was a bit embarrassed because he had remembered the food being very good. No need to respond. I just wanted you to know how we all felt about our dining experience. Don't think we'll be back. - jeanne.stpierre@target.com, 12/18/2000
Joseph Forepaugh was the first dry goods dealer in the state of MN. This was the house he built for his family and wife Mary. Joseph suffured from meloncoly and commited suside by the Selby Ave Bridge in Saint Paul. Legend is that he was having an affair with Molly the maid and she commited suiside after he did and hung herself in the 3rd floor of the house. Forepaughs is haunted by 3 Ghosts, Molly the maid, a boy named Chad that opens the door for people and the grounds keeper. The house is awsome, I would recomend it. The food is really good and so is the service. A class 'A' type place! ENJOY - Somebody who Knows, 04/07/2000
