Went to dinner with a girlfriend - we're both bona fide New Orleans ladies - so the expectations were high. There is an authentic quality to the food, no doubt about that. Catfish finger appetizer brought tears to my eyes, as did the bowl of gumbo that was as big as my head. The problem wasn't the food so much as everything else. The ambiance, or lack of it, really took away from the place. The lighting and the music were off, as was the shaky service. The fact that the place was almost completely deserted on a Friday night wasn't a good sign, either. So, in the spirit of saving this little place, hopefully the owners will change the music (how about a little more zydeco and swamp boogie, a little less hip hop and R&B), change the setting (the red is nice, but it was so darn cold in that place), and then for crying out loud, find some waitstaff that understands creole cooking! - Angelina, 03/13/2006
