This farmer-chef owned restaurant features seasonal, regional American fare fused with contemporary world cuisine. Menu (Roots: $15-$28, Cellar: $6-$28) may include tempura, chicken wraps, egg rolls, and several seafood dishes. Organic foods are served where possible. We were so disappointed in our recent dining experience. Previously we loved the place--the setting and ambience, the creative food, attention to detail. Our last experience had us wait 15 minutes to be told that the wine we ordered was not available & another 10 minutes to receive our second choice. Entre special was sold out before 8pm, and the server became defensive when I inquired as to how this could happen. Server stopped serving us and asked another server to finish with us, and our "new" server told us it was she was busy polishing glasses!! No attempt was made to offer any sort of special attention (husband's birthday) despite the restaurant being informed of this. Food was adequate--best thing was the appetiser--a pomegranite



infused/carmelized onion pizza. $11 for a Frisee salad that was somewhere between a joke and an insult in its quantity--about 1/2 a cup in total. This restaurant is not shy about charging, but screams pretention. When I expressed my views in a letter, both the manager & chef responded by totally rationalizing their staff's behaviour, and called the server's fobbing us off as "a team approach!" No thanks. For those who favour trend over caring attitude and professionalism, this restaurant is now among that category. They didn't even attempt to try to offer a genuine apology or find a way to ask us to return. - Enid, 10/10/2007
