Pieces of Eight is a historic landmark attraction located right on Lake Michigan. It draws guests from all over the State and have visitors from across America. Recently, Pieces of Eight experienced a management change at the restaurant, with the main headquarters of the restaurant being Specialty Restaurants Corporation. With an Award winning new Executive Chef and a team that will bring back the 'standards and consistency' that the restaurant is known for, the future is bright. In addition, the restaurant is just completing a major new addition to the restaurant and that is a 140 seat outdoor patio that surrounds the restaurant, right on the lake, that allows guests to enjoy a cocktail or dinner, literally overlooking the lake. With fireplaces and heat enforcement, this will allow diners to enjoy the beauty even more into early fall. New menus and decor will also enhance the facility, as well as THE place for events, banquets and that special occasion. Call for reservations or more information. Come for the food, enjoy the view! I was at Pieces of Eight for the first time on April 01st, 2005. I have lived in Milwaukee for 9 years and didn't even know this place existed. I loved the location (after getting through the driveway which is by construction) and the ambiance was wonderful. I was surprised that there were only 8 other couples in this huge restaurant. The waitstaff was very friendly and knowlegable. Prices were just right and they have an Early Bird special that if you arrive before 6pm is a great deal. Everything about our meal was wonderful but I would recommend that they spruce up their house salad just a bit more... it was just lettuce. All in all the food, service and definately the view was well worth it. - Tina Dettlaff, 04/04/2005
Pieces of 8 is my wifes favorite place. After having brunch there today I read a review stating that it was high price for mediocre brunch and that you were paying for the view. Oh soooo, wrong. The bruch today was wonderful! The brunch last time we went was wonderful too. Is the price high? It is not cheap but then you get what you pay for. Perhaps the complaining reviewer is more comfortable (both gastronomically and financially) with the brunches at the traditional buffet places where they get to eat cheap. There is nothing wrong with that either. I've been to both the cheaper buffets and Pieces of 8. There is a difference in the price and there is a difference in the quality. Pieces of 8 has an excellent brunch. The variety of foods available, in many cases, equals or exceeds the variety of foods found at the cheaper buffets. The quality in the prep. and taste of the food at Pieces of 8 far exceeds any other I have been to except for one in Oak Brooke (but then you pay even more there!). I just wanted to note that Pieces of 8 is a quality place that serves an exceptional brunch and it is well worth the money. The view, is indeed spectacular and is an added bonus to your morning/afernoon. AFterwards you can walk off your brunch on off the lakefront or take in one of the area museum and absorb the culture available. Most excellent indeed! - aar340x6@juno.com, 11/23/2003
My husband and I were there for dinner Saturday August 9th. Have not been to Pieces of Eight in about 4 or 5 years. This has always been one of my favorite places to dine as far back as 25 years ago. I remember when they use to toss the salad right at your table. Then you went to the salad bar and now you offer salads off of the menu. I will admit the food was very very good and the presentation was very appealing to the eye. The service was also very good along with the beautiful view of Lake Michigan. When we arrived we sat in the bar and had a drink before dinner. We felt that the drinks were a little expensive, for what was served. I think it is important to impress your patrons as soon as they arrive with a good beverage. We don't mind paying for a drink if it is made well, but these were not even tasty and they were served in tumblers that looked like they were from the 70's. Other than that we were pleased with everything else. The decor was a little plain too! Could use a little sprucing up as well. Just a few comments that I wanted to share with you. - wlanger@midlandplastics.com, 08/12/2003
We haven't been to Pieces of Eight since college, 30 years ago! But we are in the process of revisiting our past, so when we were last in Milwaukee, we went to Pieces of Eight... We had the absolute most wonderful time!! The food was magnificent, the service was friendly and warm, the pace of the meal was just perfect--we spent all the time we wanted and just enjoyed the view of the lake. The seating was roomy and comfortable. All in all, the wonderful restaurant staff made the event! From the host, to the on-duty manager, to our waitress--everyone was so welcoming... Just a first class experience. We plan on coming to Pieces of Eight during every trip me make to Milwaukee! We actually can't wait for our next visit! - Dr. and Mrs. Rick M Singel, 06/03/2003
