Travel operator Zephyr Adventures is promoting a series of weekend instructional "camps" for adults in 2007. Zephyr Camp Snowboard will roll out in February at seven separate ski resorts. The cost for either camp is $239 per person. The idea behind both camps is to create a non-competitive, relaxed atmosphere where adult beginniers can learn a new activity in the company of other adults. The camps feature small group sizes and professional instructors who are skilled working with sometimes-nervous adults. Although kids ar welcome, the focus of these camps is on fitness-minded adults. Tentative at first, most participants quickly realize they are in the same situation as everyone else in the class and settle down to a fun weekend. The typical camp day includes lots of laughter as participants encourage each other and dare to get outside their normal comfort zones. No prior experience is required.
