Very disappointed to hear Scotty the bartender was no longer employed there, after all those years, now the son Joe is there I am assuming because the Pepino's on Capitol closed, (along with the grand son Joey, 9 or ten years old, behind the bar????). Could be a fantastic place with the right managers. So sad, won't be back. - long time customers, 02/06/2011

Had reservations for Super Bowl Sunday last year. We were to meet relatives from out of town. Got to restaurant and it was closed. Called next day and asked why nobody called us since we made reservations and they had our phone number. No apology. To top things off, recently we went there to us a gift certificate purchase from a radio station. They said it was expired, but there was no date on the certificate. They said the printer made an error. No, they made an error. - Dave, 02/07/2008

I had an 8pm reservation this past Saturday. I was a little concerned because of the previous two reviews. I am pleased to report that the service and meal were as wonderful as ever. We were seated promptly at 8pm. The food was WONDERFUL and ridiculously abundant. The steak siciliano is still the best meal around and everything from the bread with olive oil for dipping to spumoni was excellent. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. The amount of food and quality of the meal for the money was very good. This is my favorite restaurant and I will continue to drive an hour to eat there. - Bonnie G, 04/02/2007

I usually am not one to complain about below average dining, but I feel like I have to say something about this place. We had reservations for two on a Friday. We politely agreed to sit at the bar as our table wasn't ready when we arrived. 45 minutes go by and the host hasn't even come by with an update as to when we could expect to be seated. An hour goes by and my husband gets up and asks when we can expect a table. The host gruffly tells him as soon as possible, with no apology or courtesy even. In the meantime, the bartenders were slow and unfriendly. After an eternity, we get led to our table, and seated with no menus. 15 minutes go by, and still no menus!! Somebody else's waitress asks, 'is anyone helping you?' What does it look like? So a lifetime later we finally get our waitress and order, and I get the chicken marsala. It is downright bitter tasting and tough. I don't blame the waitress though because she was clearly overworked. On top of it all, the restaurant is crowded, noisy and the decor is very northwoods-farmhouse-gaudy, not at all my taste. I considered calling management and letting them know about this experience, but I had a feeling the host was also the owner and it would fall on deaf ears. - Amanda, 03/12/2007

We were pleased with the fish on Friday night, however, when ordering an old fashioned, I expect at least a cherry and my husband requested a lime in his drink and it was not there. The waitress was more concerned about taking away our bread plates than about how our food was and what happened to the offer of ground pepper on salad? - anonymous, 03/08/2007
