For cocktail enthusiasts, Bryant's is an oasis of well-mixed liquor in a sea of beer. Home of tasty classic cocktails in Milwaukee, so far as I can tell. Roots has delicious modern cocktails if you're looking for St Germain and fresh herbs, but Bryant's is definitely the place to come for classics. Dark, oldschool speakeasy-style decor, friendly bartenders in vests who know their drinks, no beer taps, labels, or liquor bottles visible - this is a serious cocktail establishment. Even better, it's free of the pretension that you'll find in a lot of cocktail places elsewhere -- don't get me wrong, I dig ultramodern interiors and brushed metal and all that -- but it's very cool to see great drinks served in a such a laid-back environment.Rye and gin are the go-to liquors, the bartenders aren't hesitant to get creative -- and the prices, at least for a Bostonian like me used to forking out $10-12 for quality cocktails -- are amazing.
