This place use to be AQUA. I see nothing's changed except the name. First, they are super-pretentious. Being from out of town, we went in through the hotel lobby (a Comfort Inn!). The bouncer made us go back out in minus-10 degree weather and go through the "main entrance." At the main entrance, instead "Welcome to Aura," we get a very rude "I need to check your ID's," from the bouncer and a "There's a $10 cover and mandatory $2 coat check" from the coat check - all with a tone of pretentiousness. What?! Even in NY, where I live, there's no "mandatory coat check." Once we were in, the place was DEAD. There were about 20 people in there. My assesment is, this a lounge thinks attitude, rudeness, lack of hospitality, and pretentiousness qualifies for "upscale." In NYC, this would be unacceptable. Maybe that's why the place is empty and empty doesn't make is upscale either. Note that the windows are covered up by heavy curtains so you can't see the crappiness of the place. - norm, 01/06/2010
