Normal bars, you tend to hate when the owner comes around because the mood tends to tighten-up like a choker collar on a wild mutt. Not this place. Gus Amann's is best when Gus Amann is behind the bar, where he belongs. Gus is part of the Amann family that brought the first nightclub to Milwaukee. He's a music man and this place is more than a shot-n-beer joint. As he puts it, 'it's got all the class of the Eastside, without the prices.' And he's right.
