A Detroit landmark since 1925 constructed out of Vermont White marble.
Built with a $500,000 grant from the James Scott estate, the controversial socialite had left the money to the city to build a fountain on Belle Isle along with a life sized statue of himself. Construction was completed fifteen years after Scott's death in 1910. - sys, 01/29/2002
