My wife and just found Jacoby's while going to Greektown. We went inside and had the BEST sausage, potato pancake and hospitality we could immagine. We are southerners from Atlanta Ga. and the folks at Jacoby's gave a Great lasting impression of Detroit hospitality. Y'all need to try this neat place and experience something that is beyond brass and glass. - Ken Cornell, 07/19/2004
Wow! What a joke: I called Jacoby's midday, simply to confirm a concert act that I wanted to see and stated 'I would like to confirm that you've got a couple of bands playing there on the 12th...' and was told 'hold on a second'. Then I heard silence for moment and the line went dead. Next, I called back, started to say, 'Hi, I just called a second ago, and was hung up on, but all I wanted to know...' 'Hold on for a sec,' I was again interupted. Then silence, then someone picks back up, but there's no one there, only background voices which continue for several minutes before I hang up. 'Berni' was right about the rude part! - Bret, 09/05/2002
Jacoby's PLUS: nice decoration inside with a German-like atmosphere, good selection of bottled beers, menu with authentic German food. Jacoby's MINUS: Slow service (partly rude and overwhelmed waiters), German meals are overprized , no beer menu on display, little selection import German beer on tap SUMMARY: good start with room for improvement - Berni, 01/13/2002
This is reputed to be the oldest restaurant in Detroit. They've been around almost a century so they must be doing something right! - mdchachi, 10/17/2001
For true German food you can't beat Jacoby's. Great lunch and dinner menu and a selection that's bound to have something you've never tried before. One of the best selections of German beers both bottled and on tap. Weekends have live music upstairs, with selections from folk to jazz to alternative you'll be hard pressed to not to find something you like. And the staff is the friendliest bunch downtown! - Phillip Schmehl, 08/14/2000
