THIS is how I had hoped to enjoy a meal in Detroit city! Cappy's has a charm to it that one expects to find in a Hollywood feature. It's miles from the glitzy chains that seem to be more and more diluting the solution I call 'lunch.' No one was wearing striped hats, or shouting 'Opa' or banging trays together singing some newly composed birthday sonata. It's a cafe style setting with an unquestionable feeling of honesty to it. My burger had, unbelievable as it may seem, REAL ground beef in it! The edges were loosely packed, presumable by hand. The water glasses had no fancy logos painted across them... my coffee was strong and hot... I spend a lot of time on the road between museums - Detroit is as lucky to have a place like Cappy's as they are the Institute of Art! - speakerpops, 08/28/2001
