We went to the[b] Beverly Hills Grill [/b] in Southfield, MI for brunch today and it was fabulous! It's a small unassuming place that you might pass right by due to the plain exterior facade. It was probably a 'Clock' Restaurant, remodeled. Inside, there is an art deco large sunflower light that casts a warm glow over the maitre d' stand. The simple dark brown tables are set against a white walled background. Up above, there is an artsy looking area above the windows that is cut out with a few decorative vases and wine bottles. The decor is simple, small and classy and the service is fast and friendly. Everything on the menu appealed to us and we want to go back to try more entrees. We got bananas foster French toast with large caramelized pieces of bananas atop 3 large thickly sliced pieces of toast. What made the entree were the chunks of sugared walnuts, and homemade syrup. It was my favorite entree and reasonably priced at $9. MY husband got one of the specials which was andouille sausage scramble mixed with cheese, peppers, cilantro, etc. It was spicy and hearty. My daughter had the lobster, gouda, tomato, omelette which was great with large chunks of lobster. It was also reasonably priced at $11. For dessert we shared tropical rice pudding with fresh pineapple, nuts and strawberries on top. Unlike most rice puddings, you could see the grains of rice and it wasn't mushy like what you'd feed to your grandma in the nursing home. They also serve lunch and dinner. Breakfast items are available until 4PM. I can't wait to go back. - Linda, 08/09/2003
