Stash's was my first taste of a Chicago Dog. I had not eaten a hotdog for 15 years due to an unfortunate campfire experience at a halloween party. I moved to chicago from Pittsburgh to attend Trinity. A friend took me to Stash's and I tried a dog, next day a polish, next day a burger and on and on. I eventually opened the first Chicago hot dog stand in N.Georgia (1982), 'Brother John's subs and hotdogs' which I sold in 85 and is still in operation. I am passionate about Chicago Dogs and Stash's is who I think of when I think chicago Dog. I was in Highland Park in August and ate at Stash's twice -- Pure Heaven. thanks to Stash - Hey, move to Tampa and open one! there are some shops but no one does it like Stash.
