Detail for Jimmy's Place : Restaurant, American
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
There is no other restaurant like Jimmy's Place in Arlington Heights! They must be doing something right, as they have been going strong for nearly 50 years. I found out the same owners who opened this restaurant haven't changed, and are there every day still, to this day, along with three generations in full force. I'm told all past and current employees have either been long-time friends or family, of the owners, or other employees. Not run like your every-day fast food restaurant, they don't even write down your order when they take it! They may ask you to repeat part of it, but that's all part of its 'uniqueness'. I've been going there for about 35 years now and nearly nothing has changed on the outside or the inside. It's welcoming, comfortable and familiar. The food is still fantastic as well, and still reasonably priced with hot dog, beef and chicken sandwich specials every day. When I started going there for lunch when I was a freshman at Arlington High School, I only put ketchup (I know, I know...) on my hot dogs, I'm proud to admit that I now have everything on it and can now have a beer with my meal. I haven't had a bad dog there yet. The cheeseburgers and turkey burgers are great too and try the onion rings... they're the best around. There's a wide variety on the menu to choose from. I've noticed the employee's create some 'specialty' sandwiches (I haven't seen any of them on the menu) for regular customers and for our 'Arlington Heights Finest Men In Blue' police officers who are a regular sight having a meal there as well. A unique experience is what you will have when you visit Jimmy's Place... They're pretty busy at lunch, so make sure you have some extra time. They do take call-in orders as well. The employee's know many of the customers by name and if you visit at lunchtime, sometimes the employee's can be very entertaining. - A loyal customer, 08/04/2006
Excellent hotdog, burger and Italian beef place. Plus, they have beer (tap and bottles) and games! (used to be pinball, now air hockey and a couple video games) - cac, 02/01/2001
