The Willowbrook Ballroom will host the annual Swingers' Ball on Saturday, Feb. 3. For Chicago's Lindy Hop Community, the Ball is the biggest event of the year. Traditionally, many singles attend, and a king and queen of the ball will be crowned. A Lindy Hop Dance contest titled 'Bring the Heat' offers an $800 cash prize and trophy. Registration for the contest will be capped at 25 couples. In addition to the contest, swing dance performances will be given by Chicago's best swing couples. Swingers' Ball si the longest running and largest one-night only event in the Midwest. It will be attended by hundreds of dancers including Lindy hoppers, east and west coasters, music lovers, and people who love to watch swing dancing. This year's event features Thomas Gunther as musical conductor of three different bands. The Ball will take place in the main ballroom and in Bunkeris Lounge where the Flat Cats will be performing. Swing dance lessons given from 7-8 pm; advance admission is $20, $25 at the door; swing attire or dressy casual; $25 additional registration for dance contest.
