Detail for Swedish American Museum Center : Museum
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
In 1976 the dream of founder Kurt Mathiasson, and Andersonville community leader, was realized when a museum to preserve Chicago's Swedish-American legacy was opened in a small log-cabin storefront. Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustav was on hand to officially open the museum, as he was in 1987 when it was dedicated in its current location. From 1997 to 2001 the museum continued to expand, adding new gallery space and the Children's Museum of Immigration. - Alotta, 10/02/2003
