General John A. Logan (1826-1886) served in the Civil War, and later in Congress. The park was designed in 1870, and functions as a roundabout for Kedzie and Logan boulevards. The Centennial Monument was built in 1918 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Illinois' statehood, it stands 100 feet tall. - sys, 12/05/2001
