This former Hull House mansion turned settlement house, founded by Jane Addams in 1889, has been the site of many remarkable social ideas and movements including women's suffrage, political reform, pacifism, rights of laborers, children's' rights, cultural pluralism, social justice, public health and safety rules, and government's duty to protect society's most vulnerable members.
