Situated at the edge of Lincoln Park, the Chicago History Museum enjoyed a 150-year history as the Chicago Historical Society. Now with its new name, a $27.5-million renovation, and 16,000 square feet of brand new and updated galleries, the Chicago History Museum is gearing up for its next 150 years. Grand Reopening Weekend Saturday, September 30, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m . Sunday, October 1, 12:00 noon–5:00 p.m. Free Admission Come celebrate the grand reopening of the Chicago History Museum. On Saturday, September 30, and Sunday, October 1, enjoy an array of live indoor and outdoor performances throughout the day by various Chicago acts including the American Indian Center, Mexican Folkloric Dance Company, Chicago Community Chorus, Japanese Taiko Drummers, Reggio McLaughlin and the Human

Rhythm Project, Music House, Inc., Jesse White Tumblers, Second City, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Johnny Wagner Band, Friends of the Gamelan, the Trinity Irish Dancers, and many more. We anticipate large crowds for this event and recommend making advance reservations. Free ticket reservations will be available online beginning Friday, September 15 and at the Museum on opening day, Saturday, September 30. Please note that tickets will not be available at the Museum box office prior to opening day. In addition, general admission tickets cannot be obtained over the phone.
