The second tallest building in Chicago, this structure was designed by Edward Stone and completed in 1974. - sys, 12/26/1999
Now called the Aon Building, this structure is 1136' high with 80 stories and 2.3 million square feet. The tower measures 194' x 194' and is covered in Mount Airy granite. - Alotta, 09/26/2003
I worked on the 25th floor in this building in the 1970s (have some stunning photos taken by my department), moved into it in 1974 from the company's old building on South Michigan Avenue. - Rita of the SE, 04/21/2003
I have only known about it recently but (seen it a year ago not never know the name or anything else) I absolutly LOVE the Aon Center. I too love those verticle lines and white skin. Sure critics may not like it, but as David Bowie said: 'critics dont make culture, artists make culture'. And that is very true. - Robert Fritz, 06/10/2002
Although I have never been up close to this building, (hoping to do something about that soon) I absolutely love it. With its graceful vertical lines, and brilliant white skin, it makes no apology for being
the magnificent thing that it is. It makes no apologies for its great height either, and why should it? After all, Louis Sullivan did say that a skyscraper should be 'Every inch a proud and soaring thing, Rising in sheer exhultation. - Aimee Brooks, 08/18/2001
