Open Mon - Fri 8 am - 3 pm, Sat - Sun 8 am - 4 pm. Vintage toasters aptly adorn the walls in this popular breakfast/lunch eatery. A contemporary menu, priced from $5 - $10 or so, includes several varieties of eggs Benedict: traditional, veggie, crabby, and steak. Pancake varieties include lemon poppy seed, banana pecan, strawberry, and blueberry. French toast orgy: fruit-filled French toast with yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and honey. Omelettes include vegetarian, three cheese, Tijuana, and tomato and prosciutto. Lunch items include sandwiches, crepes, and salads. Full service bar. Recommended: the monster bloody mary. - sys, 09/16/2002
I was at Toast two days in a row this last Friday and sat. Jill Hollister the Manager kept the busy place running smoothly and with wonderful wit and humor.. I am a food snot and love to cook and TOAST was able to surpass all of my expectations and those of my starving DePaul son and old college girlfriend both of whom live in Chicago.. Thank you Toast your Eggs and breakfast dishes are beautiful and delicious.. - L Mccarten, 03/03/2008
This
is my favorite place. The French Toast Orgy is well worth the wait. And that's exactly what you have to do if you go on the weekend. Expect to wait a good hour for a table because of the small restaurant size. But the food is unique and delicious. The waitstaff is good, but not the friendliest. Overall, a terrific place to visit during the week for wonderful food. - Brian K, 02/29/2008
I really don't see what all the hubbub is about with Toast. I'd rather head for breakfast elsewhere. Over-priced and the french toast was nothing spectacular. - Nicole Yaniz, 03/07/2005
Toast is awesome! The french toast orgy is to die for, the rosemary potatos are wonderful and the chicken sausage is out of this world. Two downsides...First the coffee is not that good and second, the blueberry pancakes were disappointing (no whole blueberries, just blueberries mixed in). Otherwise, the rest is heavenly! - julie, 05/04/2002
