This American breakfast spot holds its own among Taylor Street's Italian eateries. Menu items include spicy biscuits and gravy, classic corned beef hash, chicken livers with onions, and holiday French toast. As its name implies, pure maple syrup accompanies pancake orders. Be prepared to wait on weekends as this has become a hit with the UIC crowd. Open for breakfast and lunch daily 7am-2pm; lunch served 11:30am-2pm M-F. Take out available. - Alotta, 09/19/2004

We stopped by on a Wednesday, at 10:30am ... and had to wait to be seated. The wait is about five minutes for every party in line ahead of you.

Steer clear of the omlettes and hash - go with the pancakes, French toast, and breakfast combos.

i love this place! be sure to come either early or when you have lots of time because there is usually a wait. all the food is fantastic! the floors are worn to make it look like your grandma's house, but i heard that

Delicious breakfast spot. Hefty portions. Try any Muffin which is larger than a softball! Great bacon, Lots of potatoes, eggs are eggs and always a full cup of joe. It can be hard to get seated because it is a tiny restaurant but the food is well worth the wait. - Bmule, 04/05/2007
