Pretentious and small and crowded; This place tries to pass itself off as the place to be, but the facilities are inadequate. Prices a bit bloated. Keep heading up Wells (towards North Ave) for better locales. - nicoley-tony, 11/05/2006
TERRIBLE NEW YEARS PARTY. After reading a number of reviews, my friends and I bought tickets to go to Spoon for NYE. For $100 the deal included shots, open bar from 9-2 a.m. and food. Sounded pretty good, especially after I called the bar and made sure that there would be regular non-VIP seating (didn't exist). Unfortunately, the bar DID NOT LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS.At first, SHOTS WERE NOT FREE, until I brought the actual advertisement to the attention of the bar owner. (He responded that the website was outdated, but eventually relented). Our least favorite part was the food. On one tray a waiter carried around chips and salsa for 10 minutes. THE FOOD WAS POORLY THROWN TOGETHER AND POORLY PRESENTED. Finally, patrons of the bar were promised a premium bar, THIS WAS NOT A PREMIUM BAR. Johnny Walker Red
was not even included, and unless you specifically requested an alcohol by name, YOU WERE GUARANTEED A GORDON'S BRAND LIQUOR OR WORSE. The one and only good thing about the bar was the waitress, she actually conceded that the bar staff was disorganized and tried her best to accomodate my friends and I. OTHERWISE, THE BAR STAFF WAS NOT VERY FRIENDLY AND THE PACKAGE WAS NO WHERE CLOSE TO ADVERTISED. - ng, 01/03/2008
