I was introduced to Polk and Western Hot Dogs through a friend of mine whose Dad would come home late at night after working and wake the kids up to take them for Hot Dogs. He would drive the kids All the way from Berwyn for these dogs in the 60s. When my friend told me about this I asked myself Why would anyone wake kids up and drive so far for a Hot Dog. So we went and I tried the Hot Dogs and got myself a beef sandwich too. I brought it home and my grown up son asked for a bite of my beef He loved it. Even though I was hungry I gave him half my beef, (it's a mom thing) and this morning weeks later he said Mom if You buy I'll fly. And we live all the way on the North side of Chicago. I hope they open later on cause there was no answer when I called to see if they were open on the 4th of July The Beefs
and Hotdogs and fries are the best tasting around. Well worth a long distance ride. My Friend still goes there all the way from Berwyn for the best Dogs and Beefs in Town. - Licia M, 07/04/2007
