Stumbled on this gem by receiving a menu and promise of free coffee with my breakfast. Turns out they have a promotion 7-11 every day giving free coffee with breakfast. Must say the French rst coffee was excellent. Walked in to a sharp, modern decor, with granite counters. Started to check how much cash I had figuring with this kind of decor, my free coffee will come with a 20 dollar breakfast, but many breakfast items are priced at $5-$8, highly recommend the skillets. Generous portions, with homemade hash browns, off the bone ham, turkey sausage and bacon, fresh fruit available with most items. Try the cracked wheat for toast, excellent. Another winner is their huge burger with marinated portabella mushroom and roasted red pepper. Good selection of sauces and dressings. They also have a cozy bar. 2 huge TVs have all the sport events. Free daily buffet and drink specials. A nice wine list. Open air dinning over looking state and van buren, and a picturesque view of Harold Washington library. Roof top has a full

We make an annual trip to Chicago to emcee a fundraising event for the U.S. Ski Team at The Standard Club. This block of Plymouth Court has always been kinda desolate looking. No more since the Plymouth Restaurant opened in September, 2006 and brightened the entire block. We went there three times over the weekend. Fabulous food, nice atmosphere, extremely friendly staff, and very, very reasonable. If you're in this part of town and need a breakfast, lunch or late dinner spot, this is the ticket! GREAT place!!! I LOVE the rooftop. Nice lay-out anf great view. I like that the rooftop has its own bar. The food was fantastic and the staff great! The diner is nice, your all-American classic diner. The bar is classy, great bartenders. The drink specials are definitely a bonus. Awesome place for After Hours. Wow, thank god that every downtown restaurant does not have to be a non smoking place. Walked in off the street and was offered SMOKING or non, what a site for sore eyes. After years of being charged up the you know what, I Found prices to be between $7-$9, with portions which did not leave you wishing for more. Don`t get me wrong, but a salad consisting of veggies should not cost $15.00. Found the restaurant withsuper decor, which did not make me pay for said decor. it looks as if perhaps this is the very first review of of the newly opened plymouth restaurant. i am not from chicago, and i stumbled upon this wonderful place completely by accident while trying to get directions to the lasalle street train station. it became my chicago hangout for the next few days/nights. FOOD: while i did not fully explore the entire menu in the short period of time i was there, i can tell you that the reuben sandwich is excellent. the portion of corned beef was generous, and the grilled, swirled rye bread was cut thick, which is good, as flimsy bread never holds the innards of a good sandwich like it should. i enjoyed breakfast there twice during my stay. the french toast was excellent- lightly crunch on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth after that. the bacon came perfectly crisp (not burnt) just as i requested. the tex-mex skillet with chorizo i enjoyed at the recommendation of my server. make sure you request the wonderful salsa verde for a real treat. you could eat this for lunch or dinner if you wanted. the coffee is incredibly good. BAR: the downstairs bar is very cozy and intimate. not a noisy, boisterous affair, but not stuffy, either. there are several cocktail tables and at least two booths for those who do not wish to sit at the beautifully appointed bar itself. there are two large televisions built into the back wall of the bar, and when the staff figures out exactly how to operate the satellite system, patrons will be able to enjoy watching the best of chicagoland sports. ROOF: the owner(s) have put a full-service bar and kitchen up on the rooftop of this lovely building. i was lucky enough to get a tour of it, but it was not to open until the day after i left chicago. lemme tell you, this is gonna be the place to hang out in the nice weather. STAFF: the entire staff at the plymouth restaurant seems to be eager to make patrons happy. i met several. george (i don't know any last names!), the owner; bill, the brother-in-law (who playfully threatened to make me pay $75 for my drink because i was a tigers' fan); mark, one of the managers or owners; jay, california guy, bartender; hector (i'm not sure what hector does, but i'm sure he does it well); andrea, friendly irish server (i learned ceili dancing at celtic fest, andrea!); and my new best friends in chicago- yazmin, assistant manager who protected me on my walk to the train; kamila, my favorite polish bartender; and theresa, tireless, smiling server... along with several others who were very helpful and friendly, but whose names i don't remember now. i look forward to visiting chicago again in the near future, and you can bet that this will be where i can be found. save my seat at the bar! - bob from michigan, 09/21/2006
