MORSELAND OPENS FULLY LICENSED SUPPER CLUB IN ROGERS PARK CHICAGO (January 2, 2004) - Rogers Park residents got their first tastes tonight of the fully licensed, newly renovated Morseland. The restaurant was successful in obtaining a liquor license with the support of its neighbors and the community. Morseland serves an enticing lineup of contemporary cuisine from its head chef, Vito, who delivers delicious morsels for diners of all tastes. Homemade soups, fresh seafood, and a well seasoned grill highlight the menu. The kitchen creates a soup of the day, potato of the day, and a vegetarian special far beyond the average grilled vegetables. Grill items such as the cinnamon grilled pork chops and the Angus ribeye headline the menu. Morseland is as
much about atmosphere as Vito's food. The beautiful hand-built oak and slate bar welcomes guests into the lounge. Velvet curtains adorn the rounded stage. A DJ booth centrally located in the dining room is surrounded by seating, reminiscent of an old-school piano bar.
Two luxurious VIP booths offer couples or groups the option of both privacy and a premium view of the stage. A restored regulation pool table offers complimentary games. Notably omitted are neon signs, bright lights, or plastic sports schedules. A true Chicago supper club, Morseland combines dining and music every night. The cabaret-style stage features live jazz every Sunday night. The Rob Denty trio performs two sets beginning at 9:00. On other nights, a lineup of some of Chicago's best DJs present an eclectic lineup of dining music after 9pm, livening up their sets after dinner at 11pm. Morseland is conveniently located, easily accessible from the CTA Red Line via the Morse Avenue stop, and by buses along Sheridan Rd. Taxis are available on request just outside the front door. For those who choose to drive, Morseland offers limited free parking in the adjacent lot and metered parking is available for three blocks along Morse. Open Tues-Fri, Sun 5 pm-2 am; Sat 5 pm-3 am; dinner served until 11 pm; lounge menu available until 1:30am. All menu items available to-go.
A recently added weekend brunch includes prime-rib hash, Morseland Eggs Benedict which is served over crab cakes instead of the usual English muffin. Most brunch dishes are under $10. - Alotta, 06/17/2005
