One of the best eateries in Wicker Park. Funky white decor is eyecatching even outside the restaurant. Formerly Sunset. Menu includes creative salad creations ; entrees include pasta with Gunthorpe Farms chicken and lamb shank with an interesting olive oil sauce. Recommended: the Halibut or Pork Chop with Marscapone Macaroni.
Excellent beer selection: Two Brothers, Dogfish India Pale Ale, and other hard-to-find bottles.
Parking available fifty feet south. Very busy during weekend / peak hours.
Prices: Dinner for two with a couple beers will run about $48. - sys, 09/06/2004
Living up to its name, this narrow restaurant features circular orange accents and cutting-edge touches such as hard-boiled eggs offered as free bar snacks. Specializing in regional cuisine prepared with seasonal ingredients, the menu features delicious starters such as the roasted baby beet and goat cheese salad. Entrees include quail stuffed with black mission figs and served with arugula and wild rice. With a front that opens onto Damen in warmer months and offers limited outdoor seating, this is also a hot spot for a nightcap and serious
people-watching. Open daily for dinner; Sunday brunch offered. - Alotta, 09/09/2003
Mod's last day of operation will be Sunday, June 26. - Alotta, 06/09/2005
the restaurant has some very clever stuff; the food doesn't always mix together well--ok, ok, it's as good a mix as the kooky-chic decor--but individually the dishes are so good and the wine selection so on the mark that it didn't really matter. and the desserts have got to be among the most creative in chicago. i've taken everyone from art-collecting 55 year olds, to 20-something new yorkers, to early 30s accounting colleagues and always had a remarkably good, noisy time. - jon-erick, 12/19/2001
