I wish I knew. My husband and I were frequent customers since it opened. When we moved out of the city in 1997 it was a booming restaurant! Great food! Joe Murray, the owner, knew the business and created one of the top restaurants in the city. We went back 2 weeks ago (we wanted to look at the house we sold on West Dickens) and were going to stop for dinner. Boy, were we shocked when we saw that the building was leveled to the ground. I wish I knew if he just moved to a different location or opened up an entire different restaurant! I will miss the crabcakes and brie along with the beef bourginon (sp?) and coq au vin! - Jeanne Hale, 03/01/2001

Unfortunately, Merlot Joe is closed with a For Sale sign posted in front of the building. Yet another mysterious development, as the restaurant was A1, particularly the highly seasoned Creole dishes and the Sunday brunch. Anybody know the story as to
