I think I bought some of the first steak taco Sylvester rolled off the grill. There has not been one person I have recommended this restaurant (from the Ritz to the pits) who didn't rave about it and then bring their friends. This clearly accounts for why there is often a wait on Saturday evenings! :-) - Syd, 08/20/2003

Las Pinatas isn't a place you want to take your snobby friends to impress them. It's where you find fantastic, authentic mexican food, and very potent margaritas. A mainstay in the Old Town neighborhood for many years, it has survived gentrification. I've been dozens of times, and while the blue plastic tablecloths and decor isn't much to look at, you'll learn that great food doesn't need pretention. Immediately you'll note the salsa and chips aren't run of the mill, neither is anything on the menu. Amigos - definately get the 'Margarita grande' on the rocks. This is my favorite Mexican
restaurant in all of Chicago! It has an extensive menu, tasty and very strong Margaritas and a fun decor. Everyone I have recommended this restaurant to has loved it. The only drawback is that there can be quite a wait at times for a table, but it's really worth it! - M.F., 02/01/2002
