Detail for Katsu Japanese Restaurant : Restaurant, Japanese / Sushi
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
Chef-owner Katsu Imamura warmly greets patrons while designing sushi creations from the back bar. Exposed brick walls and black tables and chairs give the room a contemporary flair. In addition to sushi, menu items include novel specials such as a king crab leg, precracked and served atop pickled wakame and thinly sliced cucumber. A full bar features several Japanese wines and liquors, and a variety of sakes are available. - Alotta, 02/11/2005
Anyone who knows good quality Japanese food would be glad to find Katsu. There is very few restaurants that serve such authentic food. When it comes to Japanese, believe it or not, the choices are few, if you know what it should really taste like. Katsu is probably the best I've had in the states, but you'll have to pay for it. It's pricey. - Andrea, 07/05/2002
My husband and I have been coming to Katsu since it opened in 1988 (it was a little simple storefront then). We have eaten in a minimum of 75 Japanese restaurants from all over the country--and some overseas--and we count ourselves lucky everytime we go there--We consider Katsu at the top of the list. There is always parking, the quality of the food is first rate, it's 5 minutes from my house and Mr/Mrs Katsu are always charming and gracious to their guest. The only down side is that more poeple are more aware of the place and reservations are sometimes necessary unless you want to eat at the sushi bar. Gone are the days when you can just go and drop in anytime. - Flora, 02/18/2002, 02/19/2002
In my experiencem this is a superb restaurant. The sushi presentation and quality of fish are superfluous. I have eaten there many times, and even the most delicate items (like giant scalop, sea urchin nigiri sushi, chirashi sushi, and king crab sunomono), have always been perfect. Their fresh & meaty braised eel appetizer (unagi kabayaki) is 'to die for.' The only problem with this popular local gathering place is its deservedly high prices! - M. Tenuki, 09/18/2001
