So sad to hear that Jimmy Wong's closed. I have so many great memories of going there with my dad when I was little. I LOVED the chicken with peapods; and I was always served a Shirley Temple as soon as I sat down. The waiters and Mr. Wong my father by name and always seated us at the best table in the house (at least that is how I remember it!). Too bad the newer generation didn't appreciate the coolness of that place; I wonder what happened to all of the signed celeb photos? - Mortisha, 08/07/2010
I will never forget growing up in Chicago. When there was a special occasion my parents would ask where we would like to go and most of the time I said Jimmy Wong's. We moved to Virginia in 1968. - J. Michelle Dishong, 03/10/2010
Jimmy Wong's was a wonder theme restaurant right out of the late 60's. A favored hang out for businessmen and south loop workers, the atmosphere was deliciously retro before retro was strived for. The food was authentic and very well prepared. Service was the real selling point. An all male staff of uniformed waiters attender the dining rooms with flair and professionalism often lost in today's Chinese restaurants. A magnificient bar and both risen and sunken dining rooms and an enchaning bambo fountain were the tradmarks of Jimmy Wong's. A greeting from Mr. Wong himself was not uncommon for regulars and new guests alike. The loss of a great dining establishment like Jimmy Wong's is a tragedy for Chicago and the South Loop. - Rob C.
