Detail for Ixcapuzalco (closed) : Restaurant, Mexican
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
Open for Sunday brunch; lunch and dinner Wed - Mon; closed Tuesdays. Enjoy regional Mexican cuisine in a quaint restaurant that shares its back room with a large tree that was undoubtedly there first! An ever-changing menu features appetizers such as yummy uchepos gratinados (corn tamales) topped with a cheesy crust and roasted chilaca cream. A different mole of Oaxaca is featured each day with a choice of chicken or duck and sometimes fish and/or quail. The pineapple upside-down cake is outstanding. Plenty of premium tequilas and mescals available. A caveat: service is friendly but slow. - sys, 08/22/2002
Oaxacan cuisine the centerpiece of the menu here, developed by chef-owned Geno Bahena who has worked at Topolobampo and Frontera Grill. This small, charming storefront features a dining room built around a tree! Menu items include a different mole for each day of the week, perfectly sized appetizers such as tostaditas de seviche guerrerense and mochomos. Main dishes include meat, fish, and poultry offerings. The slow, though friendly, service of the past appears to have been rectified. Open for lunch and dinner Mon-Sat. - Alotta, 02/06/2004
