Detail for Grand Lux Cafe : Restaurant, Fusion / Eclectic

A good stop for the Michigan Avenue shopper, the sister restaurant to the Cheesecake Factory is a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Extravagant details include faux gold-leaf wall decor in the entryway and a dining room complete with marble, leather, and blown-glass fixtures. An exposed kitchen serves up well proportioned sandwiches such as grilled jumbo shrimp on country white bread, and salads such as Asian chicken completely cover your plate. Entree choices include Mongolian marinated steak, Jamaican pork tenderloin, and an array of pasta dishes. Homestyle dishes such as pot roast and chicken pot pie available. Save room for cheesecake (of course) for dessert, or opt for a generous slice of chocolate or carrot cake, or key lime pie. - wm, 04/02/2003
Oh my word........the cookies were to die for. We had lunch there for the very first time ever - and ordered the cookies by fluke - and let me tell you, we were back the very next night after dinner! - Kulsum, 10/24/2006
Fantastic. The prices are reasonable and the delicious food is well worth the
wait! - Beth, 10/06/2006
OUR FIRST TRIP TO CHICAGO, THE GRAND LUX CAFE WAS ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS I HAVE EVER EATEN AT. I TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT IT. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS WONDERFUL AND THE WAIT STAFF WAS GREAT.SUCH A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE FOR BREAKFAST THAT WE ENDED GOING BACK FOR DINNER. WONDERFUL!!!!!! - SHERRY, 10/04/2006
Wow, another tourist trap... really poor atmosphere. 2 step seating process that makes you wonder if they forgot about you after your coaster-buzzer rings. Request not to sit in the bar... you will rarely see your waiter/waitress, and worse of all wait 20 minutes for them to identify themselves. And the food, not of Cheesecake Factor level and did not improve from salads to desert. - JAMES, 02/23/2006
I went there for my birthday and I had the greatest night! The food was excellent and the molten chocolate was to die for! The atmoshpere was beautiful and the staff was great. I had a wonderful time there and I recommend it to everyone! - Rachel, 03/01/2004
Loved the decor - especially the light fixtures and swirls. Food was incredible - I would definitely return and would highly recommend it to all Windy City visitors!! - J Pickard, 11/17/2003
This, by far, was one of the best places I've lunched at! The food was incredible, as was the service. I highly recommend the lemon drop drink, and for dessert, the made to order chocolate chip/pecan cookies, which come right out of the oven, to your table! - anonymous, 11/08/2003
This is an experience! It is one you won't want to miss. Don't forget to order one of the freshly made-to-order desserts. Oh, it is something else. - The Mechlins, 10/25/2003
Awesome place to go. Great food and fun view. - The Fisher's, 10/01/2003
