Off all the many little taquerias I've been to in chicago, this is by far the best. I've worked at the likes of Adobo Grill, eaten at Salpicon and Frontera Grill and the food here is definitely comparable (maybe not in flair and pretentious garnish). Everything is fresh, high quality...and affordable. I intially came in there getting the Proverbial Football sized burrito, but I started branching out after tasting the quality. I started with enchiladas (awesome salsa verde teak enchiladas), to the flautas (real, tender chicken breast and light, flaky, crunchy shells). My latest venture was the grilled skirt steak. Unbelievable - about a 12 inch long thin strip, prefectly grilled, fantastic refried beans with real mexican cheese (no jack cheese here, only real Chihuauha, Queso Anejo, Rachero and Fresco), fresh corn tortillas etc etc. What says it most, though...is that the Guacamole is always fresh, bright green ...and the salsas are simple and refreshing. For what it is and what it tries to be, this is a 5 star restaurant. very affordable, excellent, authentic, fresh mexican food. + A very good selection of mexican beers. Dos Equis, Negro Modelo, Bohemia, Modelo Especial, Corona etc....TRY THIS RESTAURANT and be amazed. Just dont expect a fancy atmosphere. - Marty, 03/10/2003
