Classic red sauced Italian food. Old tavern style atmosphere. - sys, 12/26/1999

I've been to FEBO's so many times that I still have one of their ash trays - Famous for Nothing. Their Chicken Parmesian was, and still is, the tops. It's almost as good at Bruna's nearby on Oakley, but they don't use any mushrooms on top like FEBO used to. I took many, many dates to FEBO's and each was impressed (with them, not me). My friend, Jim Sorbellini's parents, had their wedding reception at FEBO's in the late 40's. Very happy memories at FEBO's. - ElSid, 01/03/2011

My family loved Febo's!!! My dad(Jack), discovered Febo's years ago when he was working at Edward Hines Lumber(main yard). He loved having the minnestrone soup at lunch!! Once a year mom and dad would take me and my brother and sister to the Sports/Recreation Show(at the Chicago Ampitheatre)...before the show we would go to Febo's!! Also, when we were kids the kind staff at Febo's would give us little "treat" bags!! We also had many many good family times at Febo's, where the food and drink was excellente, and the socializing came naturally!!! - Terry 10/19/10, 10/19/2010

I was a busboy at FEBO around 1977-81ish. It was a fun place for a neighborhood kid to work. Nice family atmosphere. A place where people knew your name and made you feel welcome. They would give me veal parmesan for my dinner most nights. I was tired of veal. Now as an adult (age 52) I would give anything for some of it. I live in Dallas TX now. My mom and godmother would go there most every week because Duke would cash my godmother's checks for work. If you were a busboy there and remember Deuce, feel free to write me and say hello. jparma@jparmalaw.com - jparma@jparmalaw.com, 09/20/2010

I started to go Febo's when I was 5. I'll be 67 this June. Greatest lobster EVER. Great oysters a la Febo. My wife and I also loved the eggplant parmesan. Leo ran the kitchen,Duke was the bartender. When Leo retired,Mark took over the kitchen. Sure wish that someone saved the recipes and would open another restaurant. There was a nephew in later years. We wonder whatever happened to him. Did he open up somewhere else??? - FIBLA, 04/03/2010

I had been to Febo dozens of times from the 60's through 80's and had many wonderful meals and happy times there. I truly miss those times. Ed - esg, 11/08/2009

I worked for Ryerson Steel at 16th west of Western starting in the early '50s and Febo's was nearby on Western.. Great American and Italian food and martini's. Leo ran the bar and Duke ran the kitchen. It was great fun and somewhat embarassing to speak the Italian which I learned (or thought I had learned) downstate at the U of I. I still have a cigarette lighter gift from them stating, " Febo's...Famous for Nothing". I miss the place, the people, and the colorful Italian language which escaped from the kitchen when the doors were opened by waiters as they delivered their bounty. The Latin sums it up...Laudator Temporis Acti. - Torcaso, 12/31/2008

We use to go to Febo's for lunch when we worked a Link Belt at 18th & Western Their Martines were great.Once in a while we did not make it back to work. The food was great also. - Harper Poling, 10/08/2008

Mr. Cecchi owned Febo's and they sponsored a Baseball team in Brookfield where he lived. The restaurants slogan was "Febo's Famous for nothing." I used to go there as a kid. He took me to my first Sox game. - Tom, 08/08/2008

FEBO'S CLOSED ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO AND SINCE THEN THE BLDG. HAS BEEN HOME TO A LEONA'S RESTAURANT THAT ONLY STAYED OPEN FOR ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS. MORE RECENTLY IS WAS A DANCE STUDIO. - URCOOT, 04/17/2007
