Detail for Earwax : Restaurant, Cafe / Vegetarian
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
This legendary Wicker Park spot is part magazine rack and indie-film rental area, and part vegetarian restaurant. Menu items include reasonably priced helpings of sandwiches, salads, and pizza, as well as daily specials such as vegan stew. Service can be slow, but those in the know come here to linger and relax. Earwax is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner; BYOB. - Alotta, 10/11/2006
I highly recommend this place. It is a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy tasteful, satisfying food! - Anita, 03/11/2002
Ear wax is cool alright, I often wonder why the video counter people need to act so snooty. They really don't want to help you and it shows. - Danny, 02/07/2002
Fantastic place. Good vegitarian food. Nice atmosphere, including carnival pix. Also, a great place to get your bearings in town and find out what truly cool things are happening in town. We enjoyed it thoroughly. - alan, 07/05/2001
If you want a good off-beat, colorful place to spend an hour or two get yourself to Earwax. The place has staying power, has been around long enough to know better. Good coffee, good
vegan, nose-rings and all. - Dale Anderson, 03/18/2001
While living in Chicago, five years ago, i frequented the Ear Wax Cafe. The atmosphere gave me the feel of a carnival yet was very relaxing. The service was always minimal yet friendly and my needs were always met. The food...mmmm! (there are many options for vegetarians!). I now live in Ann Arbor, Michigan but when I had my one year wedding anniversary this past August my husband asked me where I wanted to eat, I replied, 'The Ear Wax'. We drove to five hours to Chicago to dine at the Ear Wax and when the server found out it was our anniversary he offered us coffee 'on the house'. It was a great way to spend my first wedding anniversary. - Tammy L. Coppola, 01/01/2001
Great coffee drinks, and an entertaining atmosphere, but the service was deplorable and the food slightly worse than average. - Nick, 12/23/1998
