Gumbo with shrimp, fried catfish, and country fried steak top the menu selections. All entrees are served with several tasty side dishes. - sys, 12/26/1999
Serves Southern delicacies such as breaded oysters with chili dipping sauce and top-notch jambalaya. Features Southern microbrewed beers. Entrees in the $8 range. - alotta, 01/09/2000
Favorites at the well-regarded restaurant include fried oysters served in a variety of ways. Recommended: peach-glazed chicken. Delicious sides of sweet potatoes and collard greens do not disappoint! Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. - Alotta, 09/23/2003
A decor reminiscent of a southern bait shop paves the way for hearty portions of Cajun favorites such as oyster po' boy, jambalaya, and fried green tomatoes. Save room for pecan pie! Dine in or take your order to go. Open daily for lunch and dinner. - Alotta, 08/17/2005
The food and staff are fabulous! - joyce t, 08/17/2005
Great food-had a fantastic service experience! - will s, 08/17/2005
The Hyde Park location is generally busy, but worth the wait. The food is spicy and so is the staff. Ample portions and don't miss the bread pudding (to die for)! We have become regular patrons and can't wait to visit the new Evanston location. - D. Smith, 08/17/2005
Not impressed. My husband likes spicy, I do not. I do not order items on restaurant menus that advise 'spicy' but this restaurant gives no clues! A pulled pork sandwich (pulled pork and 1/2 can of red cayenne pepper??) was not marked spicy and yet was very spicy. Even the side dish (corn) was too spicy. I think the chef's taste buds have died. Not going back! - mk, 08/17/2005
Dear Management, I visited your facility January 31st at 6:00pm, delighted to see it was not the least bit busy; workers were scattered about having conversation, so I thought I had come at a perfect time. After waiting at the door more than 5minutes for someone to greet us, my party and I were finally seated. We then waited another 25minutes with no sight of a waiter, and another 10minutes for him to finally come, but only after asking someone to please locate him. Not once did he offer an apology for the wait, he just took our order and fled. . We are not unreasonable people and we do realize during busy times there may be a wait. However, this evening was clearly not busy. We asked for water up front, and he brought it along with our other beverage 5 minutes before the food came. Not once did he come by and ask was everything ok, if we needed Ketchup, Steak Sauce, a refill on our drinks, extra napkins, desert; nothing. After completing our meal, we waited another 20minutes for him to return with our check. He finally came after we asked someone to locate him again and after our coats were on and - Ms. B, 08/17/2005
The best southern cooking I've had. Interesting clientele, and great service! - K. A., 08/17/2005
