Detail for Chicago Diner : Restaurant, Vegetarian

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Homestyle vegetarian meals. Highly recommended by Roger Ebert. Not all vegan, but very vegan friendly. Tofu burgers, good soy shakes, etc. Some really good vegan pasta cream sauces, various vegan specials like seitan stroganoff, cabbage rolls w/artichoke sauce, a terrific Paella and fairly creative tofu roulades. All desserts vegan. Open Mon-Fri 11am-9:30pm, Sat-Sun 10am-9:30pm. Near the Addison 'el' station - sys, 12/26/1999

Open for lunch Mon - Fri; brunch served Sat - Sun; open daily for dinner; reservations not accepted. This very healthy, smoke-free restaurant is a favorite with the vegetarian crowd. The meatless menu features innovative vegetarian and vegan dishes, served in a comfy atmosphere complete with wooden booths. Offerings prepared with eggs and dairy are marked on the menu, and vegan substitutions are often do-able upon request. If you're looking for weekend brunch in a hurry beware: service is always relaxed, even as the restaurant is filled to capacity! - wm, 08/26/2003

Menu items include Groovy Gyros, Radical Reuben, No Meata Fajita, and vegan-bakery offerings of muffins, cookies, and cakes. Natural catering available. - Alotta, 03/08/2004

The Diner is still the place for vegans

to go in Chicago. The menu has been improved over the last year or so. Personally, I order the Radical Ruben every time I go. The chocolate tofu cheesecake is the best in town.

This is by far the best restauraunt I have ever eaten at. Since I'm a vegan, I'm used to finding at most one or two dishes I can eat at a regular restauraunt. So when I came to the Chicago Diner and I could eat practically everything on the menu- I was in heaven! And with fun names like, 'Cheesed to meet you sandwich' and 'veggie rainbow rice,' it was fun too! - Leanne, 05/23/2001
