[an error occurred while processing this directive]
Richly painted and exposed brick walls, accented with original artwork and thrift-store finds, provides the backdrop for this ever-popular breakfast and lunch spot. The standard weekday menu offers omelettes, sandwiches, and pancakes with a twist. The weekend menu includes specials such as black bean burritos, eggs Benedict, and French toast. Be prepared to wait for a seat! Open Mon-Fri for breakfast and lunch; Sat-Sun brunch. - Alotta, 12/03/2003
I love this place. I heard of it from my sister years ago and it was insteant love. The pancakes are incredible!! Every season they have a new menu, so the choices are endless. Rasberry cream cheese pancakes, starwberry rubarb french toast and their potatoes...wow. I have taken everyone I know to BONGO ROOM and will keep taking people especially for their pancakes. - Venus1486, 01/26/2007

The food was great. However, service/management was not-so-friendly!!! - Courtney in Cleveland, 10/30/2005
We love this place! Used to wonder why my husband and his friends would drive from Kalamazoo just for breakfast, then I went and highly recommend it. Haven't had anything I didn't like. My husband always gets the Chocolate French toast in addition to his meal. Definatly a place to try if you are in the area. - michelle, 04/01/2004
This place has the best pancakes of anywhere I have ever been!! Absolutely amazing atmosphere, and great waitstaff...check this place out. Best breakfast in Chicago - Pancakesfordinner, 03/09/2004
This place has THE BEST food for a Chicago Breakfast! Try the Breakfast Burrito, it's sinful!!! Also the many varieties of hotcakes are tempting, and the orange juice is out of this world! It tastes as if it is freshly squeezed!!! there is always a wait on the weekends, but weekdays are not so bad. What I like is that I can combine orders, like order a breakfast burrito and get a specialty hotcake on the side; this way I don't have to choose between breakfasts! Anyways, this place is a real winner on my list anyday, and all the friends I've introduced to the Bongo Room can't get enough!!!! - Leilani, 10/18/2003
This place is heavenly. - Veronica, 08/19/2003
Loved the food, and the service was excellent. After reading other reviews, expected to wait a while for food but it came out remarkably quick. The wait to get in was long, 45-50 mins, but there is a great used book store to brouse next door, so it flew by. Food was good enough that a friend, who makes an effort never to go to a restaurant twice (there are too many others to try) expressed a desire to go back. - DAK, 09/14/2002
This a great place to go if you want to experience the greatest breakfast you've ever had. Highly recommended! 5 Stars!!! - Dan B, 07/22/2002
the service is the worst, the food is ok but nothing great. I wouldn't recommand this place. - lisa s, 05/06/2002
One of my favorite brunch places in Chicago. Great atmosphere. Diverse, fun and stylish menu. Tasty and comforting foods presented in the most ecclectic, creative ways. Definitely worth the wait! - anonymous, 01/17/2002
I have been going to the Bongo Room for over six years, they have, by far, the best menu of any restaurant I've ever been to. It is perfectly balanced with choices for even the pickiest eater. I only wish they had restaurants in other locations in the country as I don't get to Chicago very often. - KMM, 12/27/2000
WHEN EVER MY WIFE AND I COME TO CHICAGO TO VISIT THE FIRST STOP IS THE BONGO ROOM FOR WHAT WE CONSIDER THE BEST BREAKFAST ANYWHERE. - LARRY ANDERSON, 12/01/2000
My favourite joint for Brunch..Try the orange ginger hot cakes, I come back for themfrom Cincinnati ... - Vernika, 06/18/2000
