Best Nigerian food in Chicago - John, 09/07/2002
Hmm. I just went to Bolat at 3346 N. Clark (10/18/2001) for lunch and it was fabulous. I had a Efo Riro (spinach cooked in tomato sauce and spices) with goat meat. I've not had goat before, it was a little like flank steak. But the tomato sauce and spinich were excellent. The spices in the 'sauce were fabulous. Great taste, but unlike anything that I've eaten, definately tangy that I hit the water, but savory. Lunch companion had Beans & Fried Plantain with coconut rice. We both had a Nigerian Style Salad, which seemed to be composed of cold baked beans, peas, eba pieces (maybe?) and a little lettuce. Atmosphere is down to earth, but service was great, even for lunch. 4/5 stars!!! ((no affiliation, other than I live in the neighborhood and I was curious who went into 'Happy Sushi's' spot on Clark. - jfiglik@earthlink.net, 10/18/2001
