Establised in 1942, this neighborhood Italian restaurant features tasty steaks, ribs, and pasta dishes, as well as contemporary cuisine at reasonable prices. A modern supper-club atmosphere is underscored with live music by Stan Zimmerman Thurs-Sun. Open Mon-Thurs 4 pm-11 pm, Fri-Sat 11:30 am-11:30 pm, Sun 11:30 am-10 pm. - Alotta, 09/13/2005
I have fond memories from Biasetti's. Our parents took us there often growing up. I remember Lonnie very well. He and his wife were great people. I also remember the bartender who never failed to say "God Bless You" after serving your drink. I returned there as an adult with my own child and she fell in love with it also. I was also delighted to see that the bartender whom I knew as a little girl was STILL there some 30 years later, as were a few of the servers who I grew up with! Does anyone remember Ruthie? Great food, great prices, great ambiance -- family feeling in the neighborhood with many regulars. Even after moving to Florida, we continued to go there on any trips back
to Chicago. If there have been major changes to the interior, I am really sorry to hear it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The football helmets were one of the signatures of the restaurant. Biasetti's will remain a fond memory forever. - Linda, 01/06/2009
If I were on Death Row, for my last meal I'd want Terry Lyons to serve me a slab of Biassett's Ribs and a salad with extra beets. - Ralph E, 09/13/2005
I was just recently introduced to Biasetti's by a friend who has been raised there, and what a great surprise. This local hangout has got the best ribs in town, so tender that they fall off the bone. And the steaks are so delicious, with a nice char flavor to them. My wife had the Salmon with a twice baked potato, and loved it as well. Our server, Patty, has been taking care of our host for 20 years, and makes you feel like you're at mom's house for family dinner. The wine list is great, with good selections at unbelievable prices; actually, all the prices are very reasonable. We came on a Thursday, and enjoyed live music at their piano bar, with Stan playing and people singing. I can't wait to go back! - John B, 09/13/2005
WITHOUT ANY DOUBT..THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE...GOT THE STEAK FOR TWO..AND THE BAKED POTATO...AS BIG AS MY HEAD.....GOD, THIS WAS YEARS AGO..I KEEP TELLING MY HUSBAND, WE HAVE TO GO BACK...BUT CHILDREN AND LEANER MOENY SITUATION STOP US..BUT YOU BET WE'LL BE THERE THIS FEB. OR APRIL FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY....BUT MY IN-LAWS, THE BIGELOWS HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR YEARS AND YEARS....AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SEE LONNIE PERFORM...OUTSTANDING.....GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES...SOME HAVE CLOSED THEIR DOORS BUT THE BEST STAY STANDING! - dionna, 09/13/2005
The fall of Biasetti's has perhaps been one of the most heart-wrenching things I have ever experienced. Yes, it's still there, in name at least. But they have gutted the whole thing and turned it into a cross between a waffle bar and a Holiday Inn lounge. First of all, the walls are pink! And there are so many basic design flaws that it's obvious no interior decorator was even consulted. Sure, the foods basically the same, with the addition of some fancy specials and a ceasar salad, but who wants to eat a steak in a strip mall. And they've ordered the bartender's to fill the glasses only partially, yet they've raised prices to the level of Gene and Georgetti's, which they are most definitely not! Gone are the vintage NFL helmets on the wall. Gone is the dark, intimate atmosphere. They went from old school to no class in one fell swoop. I used to be a weekly regular, now it turns my stomach. Patty and Diane are still the best ladies in the world, though, so I'll probably still be back, but an era has ended. RIP Biasetti's - Halden S, 09/13/2005
Newly remodeled, looks great. Updated menu, and the food is as good as ever- THE PLACE for pork chops and ribs! Five Stars*****! - Jimmy N., 03/07/2002
One of the greatest meals I've ever had--large, meaty shrimp cocktail, enormous salad with fresh beats, a veal parmesian bar none and a side of pasta in a savory sauce. Don't close. Don't ever close. And if you're ever going to get rid of the NFL helmets around the bar, give me a call. I'll take the whole lot. BB - Bill B, 08/30/2001
I'm 23 years old and I love Biasetti's. My grandparents used to take me there as a child and I still continue to enjoy the steaks and ribs. My family can sit back and tell stories all night of the wonderful memories that took place there. Does anyone remember Lonnie, the amazing musician? He was the absolute best. We would all go down there and enjoy his entertainment all night. - Adrain A., 02/09/2001
I have been going to Biasetti's steak house for many years. In fact, my family and I had my wedding dinner there back on December 8th, 1973. It was where I first had my husband try lobster tail and it immediately became his favorite spot. Since then, we left Chicago and moved to Kentucky. What I would give to taste that garlic dressing or better yet...have the recipe. Thanks for such fond memories. - anonymous, 12/09/2000
My family too has been going to Biasetti's for over 35 years, and yes the Garlic Bread and Creamy Garlic Dressing are outstanding. My daughter Lisa, has traveled from Evanston on her lunch hour to pick up 8-10 orders of Garlic Bread for her co-workers. My friends even worked there, wonderful Ruth, and her daughter Sandy for over 30 yeas, not to mention all the other girls who have been there for YEARS, and are real professionals, that know how to take care of their customers(Cookie, Patty, and the rest). All of the steaks are out of this world, and compared to the NEW STEAK HOUSE'S opening up the prices are fantastic. They also serve real BAKED potatoes, not microwaved. Evan the Hamburgers are great, live organ music on the weekends is a nice plus. Give them a try, but not to many of you, we want to keep this our secret plce or we'll never get in. - D.
