I've never heard the terms "Speakeasy" and "New Construction" in the same sentence .. but here it is, with Untitled. Did they pull it off? The newness and elegance of the place is great, but certainly not reminiscent of a speakeasy. Upon entering, you'll be routed to one of the bar / dining rooms by the hostess. It seems this place was built with corporate events in mind (a good thing, since its so close to the loop).
The bar holds more types of American Whiskey than any other bar in the world - at least that's what the menu states. Pours are generous, and are priced $12-18. We sampled a few Ryes and then a special bottle touted by the bartender (a Whiskey expert for sure!) named Robert.

My first impression of Untitled was that it tries too hard to be exclusive. I understand it is hard to stand out as a new "it" place especially in River North since there's a new hot spot every month.
To me if you are going to make a line outside of your restaurant/lounge there better be something worthy once people gets inside and not just an empty space which is exactly what happened when we went for my friends birthday party. Even as get guests and she had reserved a table we still had to wait 15 minutes to get in just to find a very empty large space. At that points I finally made up my mind that it's all going down hills from there. If you make people wait at least let there be something worthy off all the anticipation. - prima, 02/21/2013
