Detail for Tiny Lounge (closed) : Bar
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
Located beneath the Ravenswood El; thirteen specialty martinis; Latin music and cozy booths complete the scene. - sys, 02/28/2000
This bar was never venerable in its previous form. Gianinni was a nice man, but the bar was nothing special to me. I live in the neighborhood. It did become special to me in its present form and I have liked it since I walked in the first time. I have never known a bar with nicer bartenders - they all seem to know my name. I like the redecoration - the play of light between the large front window, the ceiling lights and the small candles lineing the bar can be magical. It can be crowded but that can be fun. I stop in after work and it is never crowded then. I'm sorry that the previous reviewer didn't like the Tiny Lounge. I love it and and constantly inviting my friends to stop by. - Howard N., 08/21/2000
This bar has the friendliest bartenders I have ever experienced. The decor is modern and clean. The drinks are generous and well made. - Howard Nelson, 07/19/2000
This place
used to be the venerable Gianinni's tavern, until Mr. Gianinni died and his family sold off the place that had been in their family since the late 1920s. A soulless redecoration has turned a nice local bar into just another one of the overpriced, overcrowded rooms on the North Side. - Marty Keene, 05/03/2000
