We stopped by Schallers on Thursday, and had a great meal! Enter through the side door .. take a left, you'll emerge in a classic Chicago bar, open since the late 1800's. Indeed, it is the oldest operating bar in the city.

On tap: Miller and Bud. This facility used to be a brewery - hence the "pump" in the name.

Menu features burgers, steak, seafood, ribs and more. We sampled the Steak and Ribs dinner .. it cames with a side salad, dish of beets, pasta salad, veggie of the day, and bread! All this for $16. - wm, 05/08/2011

This is a rare gem. Much like a proper Pub in Ireland or England, this is an actual family run bar with cheap and good (albeit basic) food. The $8.99 'Steak Sandwhich' is in fact a filet mignon. All the waitresses are Schaller daughters and Jay (the son)
