Another weekend another new got spot in River North. If you are looking for a hot spot for match madness everyone seems too have fourteen the memo that American Junkie is it. I visited this Sunday and I don't understand what the fuss is about. It's like a twin brother to John Barleycorn. The set up is the same two floors and the second floor comes with window roof up and a giant screen tv on the wall (maybe that's the draw in). The second part I didn't get was the food. I tried their bacon and dates which is good but nothing unique about it. It's exactly how you'd imagine out would taste like. The drinks are nothing special. If you are looking for a spot to hang out with friends and have a good time watching a game it's a good choice but if you are looking for a foodie experience you will probably be disappointed. - prima, 03/25/2013
We stopped by American Junkie on a Thursday - not too crowded, even though the NCAA games were on.
Decent menu, options include burgers, BBQ lamb sandwich, lobster rolls. Side dishes include brussel sprouts and asparagus. Nice upstairs level .. complete with atrium (like Barleycorn)!
Although the name is the same, this location is quite different than its Scottsdale sibling. - wm, 03/29/2013
