3/30/05 I recently dined with a friend for at Ciao Bella Cafe e Ristorante on Newbury St. in the Back Bay. As a long time resident of the neighborhood, I have dined at all the popular spots and still Ciao Bella a personal favorite. This particular evening I sampled the mussels and spicey basil sauce (a special)and found the dish to be execellent. We were lucky enough to get one of the famous windows seats overlooking Newbury Street and enjoyed ambiance. Cannot wait for Winter to break so we can frequent the outside patio and take in the Newbury sights and sounds while enjoying lunch. My favorite sopt come the summer months. Our waitress that evening was very attentive and recommended a bottle of pino noir that went well my porcini mushroom pasta and my guest's delicious veal marsala (a nicely balanced rich sauce over pasta). Overall a great experience and value topped off with the perfect tiramisu. Highly recommended. Don't miss the outdoor dining once this god awful weather breaks! - db back bay, 03/30/2005
