Simply the best. While looking like a hole in the wall, Blue Ribbon manages to serve up the tastiest BBQ we've had since the Overlander in Marian, Texas. Heck, it's better than the Overlander. The beef brisket is heaven. You can order it lean and it actually arrives that way. The smokey taste is everything BBQ should be. The side dishes are yummy, too. The mashed potatoes are magic. I'm sure there's tons of butter and cream in them, but they taste the way you dream mashed potatoes will taste. The portions are gargantuan. We buy once and eat twice from every plate. The prices are more than fair. The pickles, cornbread and additional sauces on the side counter provide an admirable range of tastes to go with your main dish. We've had the chicken and salmon, too. They're great, but why stray from the real thing. Beef brisket is why barbecue was born. - Ellen K, 07/23/2003
